A doula’s role

FOR CENTURIES, BIRTH WAS A SACRED, COMMUNITY-CENTERED EVENT.

Women gave birth surrounded by midwives, mothers, grandmothers, sisters, and friends—supported with love, wisdom, and care.

Our ancestors understood that birth wasn’t just a physical process—it was an emotional and spiritual rite of passage, guided by deep trust in the body and the natural rhythms of life.

I’m here to support you in reclaiming that connection.

It wasn’t until the 20th century that birth moved primarily into hospitals. While this shift brought life-saving advancements in emergency care, it also distanced many women from the natural wisdom of birth. Over time, birth began to be viewed more as a medical crisis than the powerful, intuitive process it is for most healthy pregnancies.

Today, we are beginning to rediscover what was never truly lost

Research shows that for most low-risk pregnancies, when birth is allowed to unfold naturally—with patience, trust, and respect—it can be safer, more peaceful, and more empowering than when it is treated as an emergency.

My approach is holistic and heart-centered

I deeply honor the body’s natural ability to give birth and the sacredness of this experience.

While I value Western medicine and interventions when they’re needed—and grateful for how they save lives—I believe birth isn’t always a crisis that requires intervention.

I especially love homebirths because there’s something beautiful about welcoming babies in the comfort and safety of home, surrounded by loved ones.

I fully respect and support hospital births, knowing that every family’s journey is unique, and what matters most is that you feel safe, supported, and empowered wherever you choose to give birth.

AS YOUR DOULA

I will provide continuous emotional, physical, and informational support throughout your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

With love, compassion, respect, and unwavering care.

Love, Josie
